NLFA hosts Agriculture Industry Symposium in Grand Falls-WindsorJanuary 18, 2024 – The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture (NLFA) is bringing farmers and agriculture stakeholders together for the Agriculture Industry Symposium on January 23-25, 2024. This year’s event will be held at the Mount Peyton Resort and Conference Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, and will include information sessions, networking opportunities, a facility tour and NLFA’s annual general meeting (AGM). NL Living Labs is Approved"The NLFA looks forward to working with our project partners, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and of course our producers. We look forward to the Best Management Practices that this project brings to the NL Agriculture Industry over the next five-years and beyond" - Wayne Simmons, NLFA President Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Marie-Claude Bibeau announced that Canada will have nine “living labs” across the country to help combat climate change. The Newfoundland & Labrador Living Lab (NL-LL) will focus on Best Management Practices that can be applied by the provincial agricultural industry to assist with carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas emissions reductions and to increase nitrogen usage efficiency. The Knowledge Technology Transfer will be led by the NLFA Climate Change Manager Rodney Reid and the MUN activities will be led by Research Coordinator Dr. Yeukai Katanda.
